About Me
I'm Justin Chuk, a senior at Eric Hamber Secondary in Vancouver with a focus on finance and algorithmic trading. My interest in finance began in 7th grade where I explored financial instruments from perpetual futures and spot trading to market-making algorithms. Initially, I approached crypto markets with minimal experience, using trial and error in technical analysis and market speculation. This curiosity led me to quantitative trading, where data-driven methods replace speculation.
I developed data-driven models to validate algorithmic resilience under high volatility and authored a technical paper on algorithmic investment efficiency, submitted to journals including Columbia Junior Science Journal and The Concord Review. Additionally, I conducted quantitative analysis on the SteakHut DeFi platform, evaluating automated liquidity provisioning strategies in volatile pools, and achieved a 10% net increase by comparing active algorithms to passive benchmarks with a 1% performance edge.

My focus on early financial literacy stems from my internship as an analyst at CoinFund, where I observed two critical issues: financial literacy wasn’t taught in schools, and there was a striking disparity in knowledge about the finance world, even among peers who aspired to enter the field. I founded the Greater Vancouver School Finance Association (GVSFA), a network of 11 regional high school finance clubs. The association hosted western Canada’s largest high school finance conference, attracting 150 students and securing sponsorship from BMO and TD Bank. To date, we have raised over $10,000 and donated 500 finance-related books to literacy organisations through the Great Canadian Book Rescue. Moreover, as the president of the Eric Hamber Finance and Economics Club, my team "Wolf of Willow Street" ranked in the top 10 percentile of the Wharton Global Youth Program Investment Competition among 5,000+ teams worldwide.
This website serves as a transparent record of my work, featuring highlights from the Greater Vancouver School Finance Association, Hamber Finance Club, my role in hosting British Columbia's first ever Finance Bee, my development in quantitative trading strategies, backtesting, and my research paper which is in the process of publication.
